Our business is racing, and we are again open for business! We have had 2 Open track days, Driver’s School and Race Weekend 1 so far. Everything has gone well, with the exception of me spilling a line of oil on the track before I could pull onto the grass. Race Weekend 2, a joint race with the Detroit SCCA, is coming up quickly and promises to fill the track and the newly paved paddock.
Ron Krantz, our Facilities Director, deserves a special shout-out. He has again almost single handedly delivered a first quality paving job. From researching the best methods to getting bids from multiple paving companies to critically evaluating the result from the pavers, we now have beautifully paved paddock roads. Thank him when you see him!
The Archery Club is planning a concert, “Rocking at the Racetrack” as a fund raiser after our August 24 race day. Sabrina Borth is in charge of the planning. It will take place on the hill and feature the band Whiskey Business. Our Board has discussed this, we see an opportunity to bring new spectators to our races and to help out a fellow subclub. I look forward to seeing the result of her hard work. It should be fun!
John and Gina Grembowski grilled for us after our Saturday race. I missed it because I was out buying oil dry to replace our stock after my incident mentioned above, but I only heard positive things about their efforts. We need others to volunteer to man the grill!
will again extol the virtues of participating and volunteering at our Club and especially OCSC. We are a bunch of intelligent, talented people and our input will be an asset wherever we volunteer it. Please consider donating your time, we need it. This is our club, your participation is as valued as it is necessary.
