May 1, 2023Kenneth R Wagner
Kenneth R Wagner, age 91, of Waterford, passed away at the Avalon of Bloomfield on March 15, 2023, where he was a
resident for almost 3 years. Ken was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan on August 8, 1931. After moving to Pontiac, he and his brother owned a gas station where he met the love of his life Doris, while she was filling up her taxicab. They lived happily until she passed away in 2005. Ken proudly served his country in the United States Army in Korea and received 2 Bronze stars for his heroic achievements overseas. After the service, he worked as an inspector in parts and service for General Motors for 30 years until he retired. In his free time, Ken was a member of the Oakland County Sportsman club, the VFW post 1008, and the American Legion. Ken will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. We send our condolences to Ken’s family and friends during this sad time.
Richard G. Wilton
Richard G. Wilton, age 87, of Clarkston, passed away on March 21, 2023. He will be reunited with his loving wife, the late Gwendolyn L “Gwen” Wilton. Dick proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1957-1963 and held the highest rank of Sergeant. He retired from GM after 43 years, and was an Eagle Scout from the Order of Arrow Chippewa Lodge Troup 13 and was a National Honors Explorer for 3 years with post 13. Dick was a Jaycee President, National Director for the US Jaycees, Jaycee International Senator #10923, member of the Clarkston Rotary, member of Elks Lodge 810, and a Life Member of the Oakland County Sportsmen’s Club. Donations to the youth programs at OCSC would be most welcome and where Dick would most want to support.
Around the club, Dick was affectionately called “Sparky” and although the name would seem to be a negative connotation, it was actually quite the opposite, since he prevented a fire in the OCSC kitchen. Dick worked in the OCSC kitchen for many years and was also involved in many other activities and clubs. He always had a story to tell or pictures to show you, and most of all, he always had a smile on his face. The OCSC family send their condolences and prayers to his family and friends. He will be sorely missed……
Dick’s daughter Jan would like to express her thanks for the many friendships her father had at the club, and also wanted everyone to know that he loved to spend time working or just hanging out, side by side with many of his fellow members. He was proud to serve in any capacity that was needed and would want everyone at the club to know he loved them all dearly.
The Oakland County Sportsmen’s Club would also like to give condolences to the family and friends of two other past OCSC members, Lyle Thompson and Edwin Tripp.
