Shadows with Sympathy
July 1, 2023Archery Club News – July 2023
July 1, 2023We are now a third of the way through our season- time flies! I think we have been very well behaved, both in our driving and our car preparation. I hope I’m not jinxing us, but we have yet to be called out to twist away on a quarter-mile-long oil spill!
Race weekend 2 with our SCCA guests drew quite a crowd, both racers, and spectators. We had 110 cars registered for the weekend. Hats off to Mary Shilloff and Tracie Morlewski for how smoothly registration went. Hats off too, to
Jerry Shilloff and his stewards for the well-run weekend.
We continue to have a good crowd of flaggers at the corners. Ron Cech is still doing an amazing job. Since I’m
heaping praise on volunteers, the epitome of dedication has to be Pam Krantz. Feeling terrible and temporarily
wheelchair-bound, she is having Ron wheel her into the Paddock Shoppe so she and Sharon, her sidekick, can open for business.
Jerry Pintar shopped for and bought us a new grill for our Saturday night cookouts. I can’t wait to use it on Saturday of Race weekend 3. I hope you can plan to stay and enjoy food, drink and the company of your fellow racers. We appreciate a donation and possibly a dish to pass.
I have pretty much decided to close each Sticky Tires with a reminder that we are already members of OCSC and that we owe the club our loyalty and participation. As is the case with WHRRI, it seems that 95 percent of the work gets done by 5 percent of the members. Despite there being more than 130 WHRRI members, I don’t think I see more than 10 of us at the OCSC general membership meeting. We can do better. Think about it!
See you at the track.
