Your Oakland County Sport Fishing Club held its first ICE FISHING event on Townsend Lake last month. About 25 people braved the wind and cold for a fun afternoon fishing on the 12 inches of ice. Young and old, amateurs to seasoned veterans all had a great time catching Blue Gill, Crappy and Bass. Thanks to Troy Henke for getting the word out and grilling the dogs!! We all enjoyed the warmth of the fire and the sharing of ice fishing knowledge. We will be having routine fishing events starting after “ice out” so get your boats/kayaks and canoes ready.
Speaking of getting your boat ready…Our May 18th meeting will be taken over by a FREE Coast Guard Boat inspection and Swap meet. Get a table for the swap meet by donating some non-perishable food items to be donated to a local food bank. Please contact US VIA EMAIL HERE
We are starting to plan a Townsend Lake fishing event for June 11th (rain day June 12th) This is the summer Michigan DNR free fishing weekend so no fishing license will be needed. We are not sure yet exactly what it will look like, but please stay tuned for more information.
