February 28, 2022Thank you from USS MICHAEL MURPHY (DDG-112)
Dear Desert Angel Volunteers, Mama Q, and Louise “Desert Angel” Downs Blain,
Mahalo!
On behalf of my crew on the USS MICHAEL MURPHY (DDG-112), we are incredibly thankful for your care and support for us throughout our deployment. From the snacks and treats to activity books and games, the care packages you provided were a great source of joy and comfort during our 8 month cruise around the globe. Thank you for responding to our need, for your dedication in all of the notes you have written over the years, and loving on us!
Thank you to the Oakland County Sportsman Club, Oxford High School, and the Desert Angels!
For most of my crew this was their first deployment. We were separated from loved ones for most major holidays (4th of July, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) and we have a lot of ‘catching up’ to do in the coming months. Our deployment was also a bit more challenging with tightened COVID precautions, which did not allow us to get off the pier in most port visits and actually visit countries to ‘see the world’, as the Navy advertises.
Your gifts came at a needed time, and we are incredibly grateful. Thank you for your support and care for my crew! You have given me tools to care for them, and I appreciate your support. We look forward to rejoining our family in Pearl Harbor who have been patiently waiting for us.
Blessings!
Very Respectfully,
Chaplain
