Conservation Corner – May 2023
May 1, 2023Letter Written To Desert Angels
May 1, 2023Well, the fall/winter league has wrapped up for PPC shooters, young and old, with a great time had by all! Thanks to everyone that participated!
The highlight for PPC was hosting the Annual PPC Match on March 3, 4 & 5. Despite Mother Nature’s best efforts (a blizzard on Friday night!) and the lack of running water in the range house, there were nearly 100 competitors. Congratulations to the winners of the 5 divisions.
We also ran a successful gun raffle with the winner selecting 1 gun from a choice of 3 (Canik SFx Rival 9mm; Ruger GP100 3”; Sig Sauer 320 V-Tech Optics Ready 9mm). Ken Bean was the winner and selected the Canik. Enjoy your prize, Ken! Thanks to Hunters InSight for providing the firearms.
RETIREMENT!! I want to thank Scott DeShetler for being the PPC Director for the past decade. Scott’s decided it’s time to move along and has passed the reins of leadership. But Scott’s mark on the PPC program is indelible. Always smiling and always willing to support new shooters (and seasoned shooters, too!), Scott became the recognized face of PPC. Thank you, Scott! Hat’s off, too, to Bill Diem for being a solid and dependable Asst. Director (Bill’s returning in the Fall). Bill’s efforts and expertise are invaluable in the successful operation of PPC.
There will be a “End of the Season” PPC Steak Banquet on Thursday, May 11 (steak provided; you cook!) in the main clubhouse @ 6 pm. If you were a league shooter, you’ve earned a ticket. If you want to join the crew but weren’t a league shooter, tickets are available from Scott DeShetler or Michael Graham.
Finally, everyone is welcome to come out and experience PPC… an open invitation to anyone that enjoys shooting. We’ll begin in the fall (date TBD so keep an eye out for the announcement). PPC is a fun shooting experience where you shoot for accuracy and score against a clock. If you’re new to PPC, we’ll teach you and work with you. If you’re an “old hand”, come on back and join the fun! The challenge will hone your shooting skills!
