February 21, 2022Greetings on and all!
As I write this, it’s February 14th (Happy Valentine’s Day!) and we are in the dead of winter. Not a lot to report on, but I’ll try to update you on a few things.
We’ve had good turnouts of volunteers for Friday Fish Fry, so thanks to all the sub clubs who have staffed it so far this season.
Next, just a little something for housekeeping; if you’re on the club grounds, please be careful of ice! We’ve gone through a lot of ice melt, but it can still be very dangerous.
I have been witness to may passions around this club, like shooting shotguns, rifles, pistols, or bows; racing cars, and even my passion, fishing. But we have a sub-club here at OCSC called the Front Enders (more commonly known as Muzzleloaders). On February 4th and 5th two of their members; Rob Bentley and Mike Severs, set up a primitive camp on our campground. After spending a late Friday night around their campfire, I woke up Saturday morning to negative five degrees! The first thing I thought was “these guys are nuts”! As enjoyable as the campfire was, this is one passion around the club I won’t be participating in again anytime soon!
On Saturday, February 12th, we had the band “North 44” come all the way from Cadillac Michigan to perform a concert. I can honestly say it was a great gig! Some of us even got to try our hand at being roadies. If you missed it, you should know it was a very successful night of the club. Don’t forget to come out to our next event on Saturday, March 12th for the “lighten Up” comedy tour.
Oh, and don’t forget that March 10th is our annual St. Patrick’s Day warm-up party with music from Inis-Ceol. So come out and spend some time with fellow club members and a plate of good corned beef and cabbage. See the flyer on page for costs and times.
Don’t forget, if you have any entertainment that you think would be appropriate for Saturday nights at OCSC, just drop me an email or call me anytime!
There’s a lot going on around OCSC, so come to the club and check it out.
See you there!
