From The President – December 2023

Greetings from deer camp 2023! Today is November, 16 the 2nd day of hunting and still haven’t seen the buck!

We did share some great bonfires with good friends and neighbors, where we solved all of the world problems.

One big discussion was the difference in hunting now and what it was like in the 70’s. My camp is near the two towns of Mio and Luzerne, and I remember back in the late 70’s you couldn’t get into a restau-rant, bar, or grocery store. This weekend, most bars and restaurants are out of business and anything still open has very little hunter business. Another thing you noticed is there is nowhere near the amount of hunters in the woods, which makes me wonder about the future of hunting.

I still had a great 2 weeks of deer camp!

Around the club, this time of year is always quiet. Waterford Hills Road Racing had its awards banquet at the club. It’s a great time for all racers, support, and volunteers this year was a sellout! Good job to everyone who set this up.

Now we wait for everyone to finish up hunting and holidays and get back to archery leagues, indoor pistol leagues and some good club camaraderie!

I’ll see you at the club and we will all share stories of the hunt.
