” I want to personally thank you for the care packages! I don’t know if anyone else has reached out, but I wanted to make sure you know the impact of your efforts. I am deployed to Europe on the USS Paul Ignatius and my family has had to stay back in Florida. Any reminder of home always makes my day better. I saw your package and decided to pour it all out in a pan on our mess decks as our crew is going through a Basic Life Saving Techniques course which can go for hours and sometimes days. While this course may be boring to sit through, we push ourselves every day to learn more because knowledge and practice is what is going to help us win any battle we are thrown at and return home safely to our families. Needless to say, the smiles of the team as they watched me pour the candy in the pan this morning was evidence that it has a direct and immediate impact to their day. I had to ask them to step back so I could take a picture of the pan after I finished filling it up. I’ll check again in a minute or so, but considering the number of people who crowded the pan, it is likely already empty.
P.S. Everyone’s pictures are hanging up all over our ship, Ava’s was the one in the box that I put in the pan so I put it with the candy.
