May 11, 2022We had a great turn out for the campus clean up held on April 2nd! I want to thank all who came out to clean up the leaves sticks and other debris around the club especially around the high visibility areas like the clubhouse and flower beds. Fortunately, there was not a lot of “garbage” floating around…….except for one item in particular……CIGARETTE BUTTS! All around the front entrance to the bar, the back entrance to the bar, and the office lobby entrance. There were cigarette butts everywhere! Often these butts were right next to the “Butt Buckets” and other butt disposal devices!!! Please make the effort to dispose of your butts properly. Remember, we are a conservation club responsible for taking good care of our environment and it’s also not fair to make others clean up after you.
May 7th is the next “Adopt a Stream” river monitoring event. Please contact me if you are interested in participating. OCSC will be hosting a river monitoring training course with the Clinton River Watershed Council in the fall. It is a great opportunity to learn about our local waters and the abundance of life hidden in the rocks and reeds.
The Michigan United Conservation Club (MUCC) annual convention is happening in Lansing on June 24, 25, 26. Go to www.mucc.org for more information on how MUCC is working to protect Michigan’s natural resources and our hunting and fishing rights.
Yours in Conservation,
