July 1, 2023FIRE!
Our dry spring has led to large fires in Canada and across northern Michigan. There is currently a high risk for fires in our area.
Its campfire season, so please visit www.michigan.gov/preventwildfires to learn about fire prevention and where and how burning is allowed. You should also check with your local fire department and township offices before you burn outdoors. Keep your fires contained in a “fire ring” and always have a water source and tools available (such as metal rakes and shovels) to put out any sparks and to completely extinguish your fire before leaving it for the night.
If you have any conservation or habitat improvement ideas or would like to participate in OCSC’s conservation efforts please contact me.
I am always looking for volunteers to help. The next Clinton River ‘Adopt a Stream” river monitoring will be October 7th 2023. Contact me or www.crwc.org if you are interested in learning more.
Yours in Conservation,
Chris Finazzo
