The Bowhunter Jamboree took place this past weekend. We celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Jamboree. The weather cooperated and made for a wonderful weekend. The attendance was good and everyone seemed to enjoy the 3D course, novelty shoots, and food cooked on the grill outdoors.
Broadhead leagues are winding down for the year. As with most years the Broadhead Leagues are very popular with very good attendance. The rainy weather, late summer, this year made it difficult to get all the league shoots in. Our group of great league secretaries were able to work around the conditions and get the shoots in. We will be having the Broadhead League Banquets soon and that will wrap up the outdoor shooting for the year!
The International Field Archery Association – North American Field Archery Championship took place August 18th – 20th. This was an awesome event that we were able to host at our club. We had people from all over the country, and even overseas attend. Archers came from California, Texas, Florida, New Jersey, Ontario, and even England to participate. We put our best foot forward for this shoot and it really paid off. We didn’t expect to be able to get this event again for at least three years. People were so impressed with our club, the condition of the course, and how the shoot was organized and run that we were asked to host this shoot again next year!
Indoor leagues start up at the end of September as follows. The Flint League starts on September 26th at 7:00pm and the Women’s NFAA League starts September 28th at 6:30pm. These are both 10-week leagues.
Instructional Archery will be starting soon. The Instructional Archery through the Townships will start on October 4th with sessions at 4:30 & 6:30pm. This program runs for 10 weeks and to join you must register at your local Township Office. Many people call during the year inquiring about Archery Instruction so if you know someone that is, please pass the word.
The JOAD program starts their new season on October 1st from 1:30 – 4:00pm on the indoor range.
The Archery Club Board of Directors is still looking for a Secretary. If you are interested or know someone that might be, please contact me. The pay is horrible but the group you get to hang out with is awesome!
Come join us at the monthly Archery Club Meeting. The meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00pm in the Archery Club Building.
I encourage you to check the Archery Club Website often at http://ocsc-archery.org for the latest club news as well as our Facebook page at https://www.faceboook.com/OcscArchery.
It’s time to get out in your tree stand!
