Conservation Corner – November 2022
November 1, 2022WHRRU Sticky Tires News Letter – November 2022
November 1, 2022I sure hope everyone is enjoying these beautiful fall days as much as I am. This is the time of year I absolutely love. The leaves have turned beautiful colors and the air is crisp. We are now well into this years archery season. I hope those of you that enjoy archery hunting are getting a chance to get out into the woods!
As I mentioned in last month’s article the Bow Hunter Jamboree has taken place for another year. The number of shooters coming out sure isn’t what it has been in years past, but I would consider this year’s Jamboree a big success. We had over 70 archers come out, some shooting both days and a number of them camping in the club campground. Our new chairpersons this year did a wonderful job.
On September 24th we held our Archery Appreciation Dinner. This dinner is held annually for the club members that have put in tireless hours of work around the archery club. We had a wonderful turnout of about 50 members. We ate well and enjoyed each other’s company for the evening. Thanks to everyone that brought one of their special dishes to pass. Sebrina Borth (John’s wife) made sure this dinner was more upscale this year. We had tablecloths, place
settings, real silverware, and china plates! Thanks so much Sebrina for all your hard work with this dinner.
The Indoor Fall Leagues are running. The Flint League shoots on Tuesday evenings and the Women’s League shoots on Thursday evenings. Both of these leagues run for 10 weeks so if you would like to try one (or both) of these leagues hurry up and come out because they will be over before you know it. All of the Winter Leagues and Saturday Instructional will be starting the first week of January so look for further info to be posted.
We will be rebuilding the Archery wall this year on December 3rd starting at 8:00am. This is a big job and lots of help is appreciated.
Archery will be doing a reverse raffle to accumulate funds for another exciting project. We will be building a multilevel Signature Stand to replace the shooting stand nearest the building by the picnic tables. When complete this stand will be impressive! We already have several sizeable donations for this stand but it will take additional funds to complete. We hope to be able to start this raffle soon, so watch for future announcements coming soon.
Come join us at the monthly Archery Club Meeting. The meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month in the Archery Club Building. We welcome your input!
Enjoy the fall and be safe if you are out hunting!
Make sure to come out and join us!
