June 20, 2022SCSA (steel challenge) at OCSC
July 1, 2022It’s hard to believe, but Summer Archery Leagues are halfway over already!
Even though it’s too late to join one of these leagues, at this point, you could still come out and shoot along on a league day. This might be a good way for you to see and shoot one of our 3D or Field & Hunter courses and try it out if you haven’t already.
We also just started a summer FITA League the first week of June based on the interest we were getting. This league shoots on Wednesday evenings outdoor on the FITA Field. It will only run for eight weeks. We haven’t had this league for a number of years so if this is something that interests you come out and try it out as well.
As I write this month’s article we are getting ready for two very big weekends. The State MAA420 will be held on the weekend of June 4th and 5th. This shoot is held on the racetrack infield and is quite a spectacle to see. Archers come from all over the State to shoot in this event.
We also have what is now our Annual Traditional Shoot weekend on June 10th through 12th. This event continues to grow and we expect a good turnout again this year.
Both of these events require a tremendous amount of help from our members to put on, so thanks to everyone that came out to help!
We have heard from a number of Archery Club Members that they would like to help around the club with all the projects and maintenance that is required but are unable to attend the Wednesday morning workbees. Based on this we have scheduled two workbees for those folks, that they hopefully, can attend and get some work hours accumulated. The first one is scheduled for June 29th (Wednesday evening) starting at 5:30pm and the second is schedule for July 16th (Saturday) starting at 9:00am. These workbees are weather dependant as far as what we will do on those days. However we have projects indoors and outdoors that can be done.
We also have broadhead targets that need to be painted this year. The targets are cut and in the pole barn. If you are interested in working at home to accumulate some work hours you can take a bundle of targets home to paint.
Contact me and we can get you a bundle of targets and the supplies necessary to get them painted.
Come join us at the monthly Archery Club Meeting. The meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month in the Archery Club Building.
