Happy New Year!!!
Hopefully, you were able to go back to many loved traditions during the holidays of 2022: decorations, foods, preparations, family and friends gathering in person, concerts, plays and other welcome memory makers. Boy, the pandemic put a halt to and/or changed many traditions.
With the success of band nights and Trunk or Treat, maybe we can get back to a bit more normal. Rentals seem to be picking up. Hunter’s Banquet is back, albeit only for one day, not two. It sounds like Shotgun is planning their
banquet again. The Mystery Safe Drawing has either just been held or is about to be held. Maybe that can go back to the much-loved and well-attended banquet, complete with raffles, auctions, games and camaraderie. Perhaps there’s hope for other OCSC traditions to be revived. There may need to be adjustments, but some that come to mind are the St. Paddy’s Warm-Up, the Easter Egg Hunt, the Volunteer Recognition event, The Haunted Forest, the Kiddie’s Christmas Party and the Club Christmas Party. Granted, these things take a lot of work and coordination, but they are opportunities for club members to be back in touch with one another and keep our traditions alive.
Once in a while, they may even bring revenue to the club. Let’s pass this wonderful treasure on to future generations.
