January Magazine 2023
December 26, 2022The Friends of OCSC News – January 2023
January 1, 2023For the last few months I’ve been expecting, and telling you, that the track would be closed up for the winter. It has not been the case! Mostly due to planning but helped along by the milder weather, we have been able finish the
canopy over the scale. Ted Johnston did a great job building the aluminum structure in his shop. It fit perfectly over the posts we put in when the scale was installed. You can see it in the spring. The paddock is now the winter home of a whole bunch of trailers – even a portable rock climbing wall! We don’t make much letting people park things for the winter, but every penny we bring in is one less penny it costs us to go racing.
When the snow finally comes, the track will be locked down until the spring thaw. Plenty will continue to happen, though. Autorama will be here at the end of February. Plans for Driver’s and Flagger’s Schools need only finishing touches. We will continue to have our General Membership Meetings and our Comp Board meetings the first Wednesday of each month. The next one is January 4, 2023 at 7PM. Please come out and see your friends and keep abreast of what is going on.
Meetings are the perfect time to patronize the OCSC bar and kitchen. Gary Mobley has worked hard to staff the kitchen. The food I’ve had has been excellent and the beer is cold and cheap! WHRRI is our club. But so is OCSC! The main club meeting is the last Wednesday of each month. Make a plan to come and see how we fit into the bigger picture.
Since you may see this before the end of the month, I want to thank everyone for making racing at WHRRI such a great experience and wish everyone a wonderful holiday and a Happy New Year.
Until Next Year,
Brian Murphy
