Shadows for July 2022

July 1, 2022Sticky Tires News Letter – July 2022
As I write this, we have had two successful race weekends and 3 Open Track Days. Our hard work must be paying off, we’ve done very well!
Last weekend was our now annual joint WHRRI/SCCA race. There were over 130 entries. The cars played nice on the track; very few incidents and no serious ones. Three groups, the Miatas, the “small bores” and the big bore cars, had more than 25 cars on track at a time. Seeing that many cars running so close to each other with the drivers in control was quite a spectacle. Grid, Impound, Flaggers, Fire and Rescue and the Pace Car crew were fantastic. The stewards kept an eye on us and made sure things ran smoothly. Nice job everyone!
That many racers and their families and friends meant there was a lot of food that needed to be served. OCSC
President Gary Mobley and family did a couple record days in the concession stand. Dan Stiff and his crew brought over many box lunches. That many people buy a lot of t-shirts and other items, too. Pam and Sharon were busy all weekend selling to people who flocked into the Paddock Shoppe.
We were recently informed by Independence Township that we could run a full 8 hour schedule on Friday of our
Vintage Weekend. This will allow us to attract more of the unique historic racers the weekend is famous for. Come check it out- July 22 through the 24th.
As I will say for the rest of the summer, come see the races!! If you want to meet nice people and work around some amazing cars, let me know. We always want volunteers, we’ll put you to work.
Until next month,
Brian Murphy
