USPSA at OCSC
March 28, 2022Important Announcement
April 1, 2022By the time this gets printed, Autorama will be over (it starts tomorrow, March 4). It’s a lot of work for a relatively few volunteers, but hopefully we come home with a few trophies. Our cars are looking good! One of them, 2021 Class Champion Zach Battaglia’s F5, was featured in a story on Fox 2 News. As I have written before, just being able to participate and compete with the some of the finest automotive creations in the world is itself an award.
Since “Spring has sprung”, the track is now just about ready for the busy season ahead. A lot of awakening and sprucing up have to take place before the cars can start running. The winter was fairly mild and time does fly, but the
winter between race seasons seems to take forever! The Driver’s School classroom is on April 16, and the on-track portion of the school is on April 23 and 24. I think it’s probably a sellout, we get novice drivers from all parts of the U.S. to participate in it. Racing will start the next weekend, April 30, and May 1. Things are looking good for getting our Canadian racers back across the border. We welcome them back after 2 long years of virus forced quarantines.
We’re always looking for new ideas around here, ideas that will make the weekends more exciting and bring in more spectators. I think Gary Mobley, our OCSC President has come up with a fantastic one. With a little luck, we will soon see food trucks serving their best creations at the track. I hope we can make it happen!
Until next month,
Brian Murphy
