Desert Angels News June 2022
June 1, 2022Ladies’ Adventure Day – June 4 2022
June 8, 2022We finally had a chance to race again! The Driver’s School classroom and on track sessions are finished. Over 40 new drivers graduated. Many of them took to the track for Race Weekend 1. We also had new volunteers receive on-the-job training at the school and try out their new skills the next weekend. Welcome to them, we deeply appreciate their commitment.
Race Weekend 1 brought some surprises. In spite of rain Sunday morning making driving fast a challenge, our racers were well behaved and even managed to set a few lap records. Although external factors like weather and traffic may play a role in driving a lap faster than anyone else ever did, it is always quite an accomplishment- most of us will never do it! Congratulations to the drivers.
Speaking of Driver’s School and Race Weekend 1, WHRRI owes a big debt of gratitude to Gary Mobley and family for feeding us. They were in the concession stand both weekends, cooking breakfasts and lunches to order. Thank you!
A big welcome back to our Canadian friends after their forced absence.
We will always look for and treasure volunteers. Flaggers (corner workers) get to be real close to the action. No
volunteers equals no racing. We will train you!
Please come out to see the races. OCSC members get in free.
Until next month,
Brian Murphy
