The Bite – October 2023

We had quite a bit of rain at the end of August……The “floating dock” on Townsend Lake was tested and certainly was above its usual level with the permanent dock.

We had our “September Salmon Adventure” on the Pere Marquette (the PM) the weekend of September 22,23,24. Hopefully this will become an annual event. We will have some pictures to post of the great time for the November edition of “The Bite”.

Speaking of November….There will NOT be an Oakland County Sport Fishing Club meeting in November. The meeting day would be November 15th…..There would probably be a very small turnout.

There have been reports of invasive carp (Big Head, Asian, Grass Carp, Silver Carp etc), DNA being detected in the St Joseph River near Benton Harbor. This could have been a transfer from fishing boats/equipment that were not properly “Cleaned, Drained, and Dried” or a first indication that invasive carp are crossing the barriers into Lake Michigan. Please remember it is a requirement that you pull your plugs and cleat your boat, waders, etc before you change bodies of water. Go to www.michigan.gov/invasives for more information or to report sightings of suspected invasive plants and animals.
